I was afraid of the name “Blogger”

I didn’t know if I could call myself a blogger. Even though I was writing on a blog, I had a twitter/facebook/instagram/pinterest/slideshare/linkedin accounts and I had meetings with other bloggers. I couldn’t call myself a blogger, at least that’s what I though. I had questions about blogging almost every time I opened my blog. “If I just have a blog and I write on it that does not make me a blogger, or does it?

I was reaching the stage of feeling weird when people spoke to me about a blog. Especially when they were talking about my blog. I was running from the title of “blogger”. I was trying to avoid saying the word “blogger”, I called myself some type of “online guy” so that any normal person would understand. Meetings with other bloggers were called meetings with people from on-line, I wasn’t actually writing on the blog, I was just there, on the internet. I refused to call myself a blogger. I did not earn the right to be called a blogger. Or maybe I was just a bit afraid of that name.

Until one day when I was at a show with other bloggers. At the end of the show there was a Q&A and when no one had the courage to ask questions one of the bloggers stood up and said “Hi, my name is _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ and I am a blogger“. Amazing! It was like a flash of light for me. At that exact moment I realized that I too am a blogger. I just needed someone to say out loud that he is a blogger. I needed a confirmation from someone that I can call myself a blogger. Eventually, through someone’s courage of saying he’s a blogger I’ve received the courage of calling myself a blogger. Weird, huh?

Since then I can peacefully, calmly and with a great sense of pride declare that “Yes man, I am a blogger and I am proud of being one.
