Like a Virgin! The book that won’t bring you more money

Because as much as Richard Branson would like to write a book for entrepreneurs I have seen this book as more than one about professional development, entrepreneurship or management. I read in this book stories and advices that everyone should know. Everyone should read this book, whether a lead singer in a band, a priest, a minister, a teacher, a coach, a blogger, a farmer or a psychologist!

The book has 76 chapters in which Richard Branson responds to questions on entrepreneurship or recounts the lessons he has learned while on the road behind the Virgin brand. It’s an easy book that you can read today and not have to read it tomorrow. It’s a book that you can read in the morning while drinking your coffee or on the way to your job or school.

As much as I would like to commend this book and wrap it in beautiful words I am sure you won’t get up from your desk to go to the first bookstore you can find to get it. Why? Because I cannot raise it to the rank of “the book that changed my life” or “the book that helped me follow my dreams” or I have one even better, “the first book that taught me what success means”, but what I can say is that it’s the book that you must have in your personal and professional library.

It’s a book that will remind you of the basic things that you already know but because (perhaps) you’ve read too much crap you’ve forgotten them.

And because I like challenges I want to challenge you to read the following excerpt that I copied from the book and replace the base words with your field of activity. Namely, if you aren’t a business man but a blogger, you can change the following words like this:

Business men= bloggers, Company = Blog, Business= Blogging

I hope you got the idea!

A businesswoman or a businessman is not unlike an artist. What you have when you start a company is a blank canvas; you have to fill it. Just as a good artist has to get every single detail right on that canvas, a businessman or businesswoman has to get every single little thing right when first setting up in business in order to succeed. However, unlike a work of art, the business is never finished. It constantly evolves and it’s also not that easy to paint over your mistakes!

And if you have no idea for a gift to give to your boss then this book will surely help you with that dilemma.
