No matter how much the platforms, tools, and marketing strategies change over time, one type of marketing remains constant: understanding people.
Katelyn Bourgoin (one of my fav. marketer out there) often emphasizes this point: stay close to people, talk to your customers, and get to know them.
It may not be glamorous, and it won’t get you any awards or press coverage, but it will give you the insights you need to create memorable marketing.
That’s why the best marketing comes from understanding people.
So, spend more time with your customers. Interview them, talk to them, and help them.
Focus on their needs, not on the buyer personas that agencies send you.
The best marketing is when you impress your customers, not your boss, colleagues, or the press.
If you want a long-term win → start a conversation.
If you want a short-term win → make the conversion.
I hope this helps.
THIS NEWSLETTER – Building in public
It looks like I’m trying out to get that specific thing you want to have in your inbox every time I’m sending something. I asked my Twitter community about it and received a few interesting answers.
So let me ask you too? How long do you want this newsletter to be?
