You can work in marketing or you can work in advertising. You can be a Social Media Ninja or just a blogger. You can be an international brand manager or a simple local sales agent for car cleaning products. There is only one clear and simple rule that could distinguish your work from someone else’s, that could take you that one extra mile you want, that could very well bring you the title of “the best […]”.
And in spite of being such an easy and simple rule, we often forget about it on account of the many compromises we enjoy making. Nevertheless, maybe this rule should be more that just a tagline on a flyer or a description on a site. Maybe it should be the only rule you truly follow.
“Keep your promise”
And I don’t care who you are and what it is that you do. Once you’ve told me your product is the best there is, you service is of the highest quality or that you can get me that specific thing I need, I need you to keep that promise.
It’s better to make just a few promises but keep them than to promise someone the moon and then fail to deliver it.
It’s a strange thing, isn’t it?
A rule that simple yet forgotten by so many.
